Thermostatic Valves

What is the cause?

Thermostatic mixing valves (TMV’s) are designed to blend hot water with cold water to ensure a constant delivery of safe, temperature controlled water to preventing scalding.

This is especially important in healthcare situations, childcare centres, hospitals and nursing homes. The valves are designed to shut off rapidly in the event of a hot or cold supply failure to prevent scalding or thermal shock. Hence, blended water is required at all shower, bath and basin fixtures.

As most of the above business centres would have a commercial kitchen and laundry, it is essential that these fixtures deliver hot water at a minimum of 70c as this removes one possible breeding ground for Legionella Disease. In order for this to occur, TMV’s are installed to service the shower, bath and basin fixtures only as clients / patients should not have access to the kitchen or laundry.

We are considered experts in Thermostatic Mixing Valves and can conduct a thorough investigation of your property to advise whether you comply with current Government regulations.

Did you know that TMV’s by law, must be serviced, tested and certified annually?
